The Mahwah Library Celebrates 20 Years at 100 Ridge Road

Blast from the past

February 1, 2018 is the twenty-year anniversary of The Mahwah Library moving to 100 Ridge Road. Sandra Vermeulen, pictured on the left with former Library Board President George Garnes, was the first patron to enter the new building. Sandra is one of many devoted patrons of the library who we still see regularly, and she is also pictured on the right with current Library Director Kurt Hadeler.

The Library has embraced its changing role in the community over the past twenty years.  In 2011, it renovated the lower level, creating additional space for programs and community meeting space.  In 2015, it opened the Inbetween, a center for teens and tweens on the lower level.  Last year, the Library created five quiet rooms for individual study and small group meetings.  Beyond its central role in supporting a love of reading, the Library now hosts thousands of visitors to weekly concerts, movies, and lectures, early literacy programs, story times and crafts, and STEAM activities for children of all ages.
