Many of our events require registration.  Registration opens for Mahwah cardholders four weeks before the date of the event.Those without a Mahwah Library card are welcome to register two weeks before the event.

    Students will recreate the various layers of the ocean in their own density bottle and learn about the different layers and functions in the ocean. Each of the 5 layers of the ocean will be represented in a different solution and color.

    This challenge will be a take-home kit with an instructional video.

    Stretch your imagination and your body! We will learn basic yoga poses, create a story, and have fun! Simple breathing techniques and guided visualizations are also taught. Yoga is a great way to bring calm and focus into your child’s life through movement and breath. Parents are welcome to join in. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Yoga mats are encouraged but not required.

    Teens in grades 5 and up can register for this fun Laser Tag event. Game Coaches from Game Rider NJ will offer the perfect combination of excitement, competition and ridiculous fun! Our doors will open starting at 6:00 PM, and guests will have until 6:30 PM to arrive. Light refreshments (juice, cookies, and chips) will be served.

    On the night of the event, a parent or guardian MUST walk their teen to the front lower level door and sign a permission form (if they haven’t done so in advance) in order for their teen to be allowed to participate.

    No matter what age the children will love to work with buoyancy and water pressure as they create their very own Cartesian diver in a bottle. While older children will love to make a game of it, by creating two Cartesian divers that they will try to hook onto each other without actually touching the pieces.

    Get your garden ready for Spring by making a native plant seed ball that can be planted in the fall (and will bloom in the spring) and learn all about our local pollinators! (where they go over the winter, how they prepare for hibernation or migration etc) We will also pot up a dwarf sunflower seed so students can observe on their own at home, the growth process.
