English Language Learning

The Library partners with Mahwah Schools to provide English Language Learning (ELL) in small group settings for both basic- and intermediate learners.

In partnership with the Mahwah Public Schools, the Library now offers English Language Learning (ELL) programs for adults at beginner and intermediate levels. No matter your native language or cultural background, we welcome you to join us if you’re interested in improving your English.

Programs are designed to build conversational skills leading up to fluency.  Each session runs for eight-weeks.  In addition to language practice, topics such as civic engagement, preparing for work, resources available to residents, and more will be covered!

Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins are also welcome provided space is available.

Check the calendar to find upcoming sessions and register.

If you can not attend sessions offered in Mahwah, many BCCLS libraries provide English language instruction and may have space available.  Please contact these libraries directly for more information.

Interested in volunteering as an English language tutor?  Training is provided by the Literacy Volunteers of Pascack Valley.  Adults who are interested in either receiving instruction or receiving training to become a tutor should contact the Literacy Volunteers of Pascack Valley directly.
